Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Howell III of Glen Lyon are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today, June 16, 2013.

The historical exhibit "Miracle of the Bells" is on display at the Luzerne County Historical Society Museum, Wilkes-Barre. It tells the story of Olga Trotzski of Glen Lyon who became a successful Broadway producer and is the inspiration for "Miracle of the Bells," a 1946 best-selling novel and 1948 movie partially filmed in Glen Lyon.

A Newport Township man is accused of assaulting a state constable who arrived to serve warrants at his Miner Avenue, Glen Lyon, home Wednesday afternoon.

Lt. Chester F. Strzalka Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8353, the American Legion Post 539, and Sons of the American Legion Post 539 will conduct services at several cemeteries in the Glen Lyon area on Memorial Day.
