Morgan Hill: Coroner identifies Gilroy man as victim in fatal motorcycle crash

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office has identified Jesus Lombera, 27, of Gilroy as the motorcyclist who died Tuesday night when he crashed into a tree at Sycamore Drive and Oak Glen Avenue. Lombera was riding a 2001 Honda when he lost control of the motorcycle and left the roadway at about 7:16 p.m., according to the CHP.

Last of Milpitas school district 2012 general obligation bonds sold

Milpitas Unified School District's Board of Education heard a report on the sale of series B of the 2012 general obligation for $40-million Measure E bonds and a 2010 bond refunding close out Aug. 26. Board members expressed happiness after being told that the district fell into the top tier of school districts, and that refinancing the bonds at lower interest rates would save taxpayers $4.7 million in the long run. Milpitas Unified School District's Board of Education voted June 24 to authorize the issuance of series B of the 2012 general obligation bonds and to refinance existing bonds at lower interest rates.

Rail officials said the cost of buying the Bombardier Bi-Level Generation 2 rail cars from Southern California Regional Rail Authority and renovating equipment will top out around $15 million, the majority of which will be covered using debt issued against future revenue from rider fare.

Compliance checks of tobacco sales to minors by members of the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health's Tobacco Prevention and Education Program was conducted after 5 p.m. on Aug. 29, according to police. Three people were cited for selling cigarettes at CVS Pharmacy at 825 First St., Franco Imports at 157 Old Gilroy St. and a Chevron gas station at 7110 Camino Arroyo, according to police.
