Pies and crafts abound at Heritage Day Festival

The fourth annual Heritage Festival brought in more than crafts this year, including a friendly scarecrow and pie baking contests, acappella music, square dancing, baked goods, and even chickens and oxen to kick off the fall season and bring the community to work together on a cool but sunny day.

Majority of federal police grant put on hold pending court decision

After a public hearing to address the appropriation of the Edward Bryne Memorial Justice Grant awarded to the Gilford Police Department, the town has decided to accept the funds for a few items, but will place less crucial purchases on hold pending a court date in February.

Gilford finances show signs of improvement

Revenues are looking up for the town according to Finance Director Geoff Ruggles, who announced at the Board of Selectmen meeting last week that revenues not only show signs of improvement, but that the town may be able to hit the budget on the nose for 2009, something the Finance Department did not consider possible at the beginning of the year.
