The Great (American?) Evangelical Shibboleth
This old MS Papyrus Oxyrhynchus 208 contains a fragment of the Gospel of John 16:22-30, it dates to the 3rd century, so though one of the oldest NT MSS we have it is not an autograph.

Gilead, a town of barely more than 30 people in far eastern Thayer County, swelled to three times that size during the weekend as visitors flooded in for the community's quasquicennential celebration.
Asserting a belief that would be too absurd to countenance for anyone outside a given tribal/ideological group makes for a good political shibboleth.
