Their first official meeting won't occur until tonight, but Lower Macungie's five new commissioners already have spent hours together since being appointed last month, preparing to take over management of a rapidly growing township marked by scandal and unpopular government decisions over the past two years.
The commissioners, appointed by Lehigh County's 10 judges on Dec. 20 as a result of a successful referendum to change the township's form of government, were strangers to each other just weeks ago. But they say they have held in-depth discussions during several private meetings to discover potential strengths and roles on the newly formed board. Read more
