Regarding the sealing of old mines, I personally know of one in New Idria (southern San Benito County, CA) that is the home for many thousands of bats. We must preserve our bats for obvious reasons. I hope that is being considered and that sealing off mines will not preclude the bats from having an exit and entrance to their homes.
