*Rabbi to present concert: The Jewish Center & Federation of the Twin Tiers will present a concert by guitarist and songwriter Larry Milder at 3 p.m. April 6 at Congregation Shomray Hadath at 1008 W. Water St. in West Elmira. Milder, an ordained rabbi, has earned a national following for his lighthearted look at Jewish music. His song 'Wherever You Go (There's Always Someone Jewish!)' has become a favorite in youth groups and summer camps throughout the country, and 'My Hebrew Name' was a prize-winner in the 1995 American Jewish Song Festival. Milder, who will perform original compositions based on texts from the Hebrew Bible, has produced four albums of new and original Jewish folk music. The concert is open to the public. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children under age 13. To learn more, call the Jewish Center and Federation of the Twin Tiers at (607) 734-8122. *Folk group performs Friday: The Peaceful Gatherings Coffeehouse will present a performance by folk group Griddlegrubbers at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Soul Full Cup at 81 W. Market St. in Corning. The band will perform two sets with an open mic in between for announcements and creative expression on the theme of peace and justice. A hat is passed for featured performers. *Ashley Hurlbut of Horseheads received a bachelor's degree in December in speech and hearing handicapped at the State University of New York at Geneseo. *The following local residents were recognized as Honor Scholars in January at Elmira College's Winter Convocation: Kevin Greuber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Greuber of Odessa, a social studies major.
