City holds firm on classroom trailer rules

A space-starved local school's installation of two modular units this year has highlighted Gastonia's increased focus on keeping up appearances. The classroom trailers now in use behind Piedmont Community Charter School's Secondary Campus aren't currently up to code, due to their visible aluminum exterior.

Gaston County Emergency Operations Center received the call around 9 PM on Saturday, September 13 about Junie Christopher Pagan leaving his home and not returning. Pagan is an 11-year-old black male with light brown skin, black hair and brown eyes.

Officer responding to call at time of wreck

Police say an officer was responding to a breaking and entering call when his car may have hydroplaned and crashed into a tree late Thursday afternoon. Cain was en route to a breaking and entering that was in progress when the wreck occurred around 5:43 p.m. Thursday along West Airline Avenue at North Kings Street, according to police spokeswoman Donna Lahser.

Two from Gastonia face drug charges

Two people from Gastonia have been charged with selling drugs to an undercover officer in McDowell County, authorities said Wednesday. Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff's Office charged 37-year-old Jeremy Wayne White and 34-year-old Stephanie Nicole Sutton, both of Gastonia, with one felony count each of possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, sale and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance.
