Greenfield Central Junior High eighth-grader Jordin Jones had only one concern Tuesday as she cinched up her helmet and tugged on her gloves before leaving the pits.

Larry Joe Metzger, 70, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Woodlawn Hospital.

Their fan base is loyal, and, by the time the season opens, they are more than eager for the first sprint-car heat to roll onto the red clay quarter-mile. Unfortunately for Bloomington Speedway and its fans, the weather for its opener on April 19 was terrible.

The Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Transportation are urging drivers on northbound Interstate 69 to find alternate routes after a fatal crash north of the Gas City exit.
