Garryown rancher Real Bird named state poet laureate
HELENA - Gov. Brian Schweitzer has appointed Henry Real Bird of Garryowen as Montana's poet laureate.
The Crow Nation become one of the first Native American populations to benefit from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Friday.
The family of a missing Crow Agency woman released a picture of her Tuesday. BIA officials say 41-year-old Crystal Williamson was last seen swimming with friends on the Little Big Horn River near Garryowen on June 29th.
Battle of the Little Bighorn re-enactments are today, Saturday and Sunday
Relive the drama of the Battle of the Little Bighorn this weekend at the annual Battle of the Little Bighorn Re-enactment. The Real Bird family hosts the event at 1 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday.
The renowned U.S. Army 82nd Airborne, stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C., will be appearing at a reenactment of Custera s Last Stand on Sunday, June 28, at 1 p.m. Approximately 60 paratroopers will drop out of the sky onto a spot adjacent to the Real Bird reenactment site on the Little Bighorn River east of Garryowen, MT.
