Mayor: Watchword for 2009 'caution'
Budgets were the order of the day at Palouse's regularly scheduled November 25 city council meeting. The meeting opened with a public hearing covering the 2009 Final Budget. As there was no discussion, the hearing was closed.
Pointing to Washington State's own large budget deficits, the overall shrinking economy and the shriveling up of consumer loans for both durable goods and housing purchases, Mayor Echanove stressed as a watchword: "caution in 2009." Councilman Rick Wekenman seconded these sentiments stating that "we need to concentrate on every single dollar we spend."
