After all the publicity on drunk driving these young kids think it cant happen to them. I hope the passenger recovers and that this scares them both not to do it again. Parents please remind your kids about the dangers of drinking and driving everday if you have to because it just might save their lives or the lives of someone else.

Two observations here:
1) Nothing good happens after 1 A.M. 2) It's always the passenger or the other innocent party that become the victim of drunk drivers. |
||||
Your two observations are right on the mark. In New York City two days ago, a drunken off duty police officer by the name of Officer Andrew Kelly struck and killed an innocent 33 year old woman who had just left a wedding and was trying to hail a cab, at 12:41am. She was a tee totaller, and the daughter of a Minister. Apparently Officer Kelly's night began in a bar room; then proceeded to a friend's house for more drinks and to watch a football game. Kelly, and one other off duty cop, as well as two other individuals who are connected to the NYPD were in Kelly's car, after the football game was over, in order to continue their drinking in another bar. After striking the innocent victim, Kelly stayed at the scene, but his fellow passengers fled. So yes, nothing good happens at that late hour; and it does always seem to be the innocent who suffer at the hands of the irresponsible. By the way, if Kelly had not struck and killed Vionique Valnord, he would have continued his drinking and then he was due at work at 7:00am or 8:00 am. Kelly declined a breathalizor as well as a blood test; but a search warrent was quickly obtained. |
