Calvin Morett, the 19-year-old who appeared on stage in an inflatable penis costume during Saratoga Springs High School’s commencement on Thursday, appeared in City Court today to answer a disorderly conduct charge.

Morett is a 2007 graduate of the school who lives with his parents in Wilton.
After running across the stage in the outfit at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, he was arrested and taken into custody by Saratoga Springs police.Coming from a small school didn't keep Hamel from D-I soccer fields. A Memorial Day camping excursion checklist: cross firewood off the list?
But cross firewood off the list, because when you build that roaring fire come nightfall, environmental experts want to ensure you’re not carting in kindling from your own backyard in which all kind of creepy crawlies may be lurking.
The long weekend is the time when the state Department of Environmental Conservation began publicizing its “Don’t Move Firewood” campaign to prevent the spread of potentially tree-killing pests
.At Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort, located on picturesque property filled with hardwood trees, campers were filling burlap bags from a shanty full of dried pine and other logs from inside the park grounds. But most were doing it out of convenience, unaware of the state recommendations that backyard wood be left at home.
“It’s easier to buy it here at a good price than haul it in,” Charles Clothier of Saratoga Springs said Sunday. “This is all for a campfire; you don’t want to cook over pine because it affects the food flavor.”
“It’s not worth the effort to bring it in,” Lafar said. “But you do hear about ticks and wood disease being everywhere. Why risk it?”

Local Restaurants in the Blogs
The Capital Region's restaurant scene can be a marvel or a minefield, its meals the source of ecstasy or exasperation.Check out Susan Arbetter’s post about being asked to vacate a restaurant table. They were at Max London’s in Saratoga Springs, a trendy place, and they’d occupied the table for 2½ hours. If their dinner was this past weekend, when Skidmore College was holding its graduation, the Spa City would have been swarming with people looking to spend money on dinner. This is a tough issue. From the diners’ perspective, they’re paying hundreds of dollars and should be able to proceed at whatever pace they like. From the restaurant’s point of view, allowing diner to dawdle as long as they wish means essentially giving up the hundreds of dollars the next party of four would have spent. From Susan’s description, it sounds like the staff at Max London’s was as polite as possible, and Susan’s group was offered a round of drinks in the bar to give up their table. The only other thing the restaurant should have done — and it may have — is let the party know in advance, preferably when making the reservation, that there was a time limit. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask a group to give up their table after 2½ hours. If you know you’re going to want to linger longer, it’s best to make that request when calling for a reservation.
