Good work, Officer Rempe! Sorry they attacked you, when they could have just pulled over & still been alive--but very glad you were professional enough to keep yourself alive & uninjured.

"I think he was left with very few options and he had to act," Becker said of Rempe. "People can second-guess all day long what he could've done different, but he was certainly just in using the force he chose, and in all likelihood, he was right in his choice."

VERY well said!! Congratulations Officer Rempe on a job very well done!

Im happy to see that this officer has been recognized for putting his life on the line.I am married to a retired officer from Calif. As he says your job is to go home safe and intact to your family after serving and protecing the rest of us. We forget sometimes that uniform and badge make you a target for all kind of crazies, verbally and phycially.

Drinking and Driving is a big issue here off and on the Navajo Reservation. Some people still think it is ok to get behind the wheel and make it home without getting caught. I don't understand why they keep putting other people at risk. I'm sure glad they didn't kill any other innocent people along the way. People who say "whatever" or "who f-g cares" with their beer in their hands are the ones who always get away with a slap on the wrist, especially when they think, just because I live on the rez, I will get away with it. Hey, where is your common sense and if you want to drink and drive, I hope to God your relatives are not on the road or anybody's love ones. Why, do we have to pay the price and suffer for your deviant actions. Just walk home or hitch a ride! If I made anybody angry about my comments, at least I know you are looking and you are aware. Thank-you for acknowledging the State Officer, he is doing his job to protect everybody!!! Semper Fi!!!

these last few comments at the end are very true. Ask rempe WHY THE FK he was following them to begin with! apparently he was the only one with a weapon. as far as the story goes there was no weapon found on the innocent bystanders he deicided to shoot on behalf of rempes stupidity! just wait! it will all blow up in all you faces on his poor judgement.

seroiously, people. You mind as well give every killer and bad person that same exact award. because behind that badge thats all he is, is a killer!! He knows darn well, first off what was he doing without his partner! its very suspicious REMPE, that you were "alone" and just seemed to have gotten lucky huh. So i ask you, were you at all shot during this attack? what exactly happened to you? Did they beat you up? i would love to see some bruises and beats or something on your body, because you seem to look A WHOLE LOT better than the two guys you killed and dangerously injured.
On behalf of this award, i do hope you take pride in knowing that you have taken away from him, his family, his child(ren), and friends. i hope these things run through your mind each and everyday and night that passes by until you have reached your last day. Cause only GOD can judge you, and trust me, HE HAS SEEN EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT!! he is patiently awaiting your arrival to give you the proper "award" you knowingly deserve.
I hope you take these words very seriously and do the right thing!

Well I will say to the last few responces, get a clue. He is not the one who decided to drink and drive, he didnt decide to run from the Police and cause a very dangerous situation for the rest of the County, he didnt decide to crash his car in a drunken craze, he didnt decide to try and kill and Officer of the Law because he thought he could get away with it, and he defenately didnt decide "hey maybe I can shoot and kill someone today while I am at work".
No the Dobey brothers decided all of this and had to pay the price for their decisions. Officer Rempe DID NOTHING WRONG, this is from the FBI!!!! He was justified in what he was forced to do by the Dobey brothers.
I also commend you Officer Rempe for saving your own life and making it back home to your family when your work day was done. SEMPER FI brother!!!
To Anonomous, what is your problem. He was performing his duty just as you did while you were serving. He was just the unlucky one who had to make the ultimate choice to take anothers life. Would you not have done the same thing? If not you were never a Marine, remember our Oath and Motto? You were probably Hollywood anyway!!

Witnesses ignored, say families of shooting victims

Apparently this is the state polices third time shooting a navjo. WOW!!! im sure this is another "job well done" right? Let me guess, the cops were all white, hmmm. Our towns not racist right? WRONG!
you awarding them for there mistakes does not help. all it is doing is making them think there doing a good job. What if this was your son, friend, daughter, husband, or whatver. And they killed them. and he was awarded for it. then ill be on here commenting what a great job he did right? you all know what he did was wrong. we do have other options people. he didnt take the time to opt out what he could do. instead of getting help, he tried to be superman and do it alone OR he knew he screwed up he knew what he was plotting and decided not to call for back up because of what lttle evidence there were to help prove his innocence and heroeism.

How do you figure he decided for these things to happen? He was only reacting to what the Dobey broters forced him to do. Also when have you ever seen any Officer work with a partner around here? It just doesnt happen, not enough money or man power. There is not a Department in the State of New Mexico that works with a partner, everyone is alone unless another Officer happens to be free and close.
You need to get a clue, read the report from the FBI on what really happened, if you really want to know. He was found innocent of any wrong doing.
I would secondly ask you if you were there this fatefull night? Um NO you werent, so how do you know what "really happened"? You dont you are relying on rumors from unreliable sources just like the Clint John family.
ALL OF YOU NEED TO GET THE REAL FACTS BEFORE COMMENTING.

Wow your comment is very hard to read. Are you talking about Blackhat? I dont see how you figured Rempe was doing any wrong, he was trying to stop them in the city of Farmington. They decided to run to the Rez, then decided to fight with the Officer. In turn getting shot by Rempe. He was alone being attacked by 3 men who stated they were "going to kill him".
What would you have done when placed into this situation? DIED?

Are all of you idiots really that stupid? Rempe saved us some tax money that would have been wasted on these two. If you dont want to be shot, dont run from the police, dont fight with the Police and you wont get shot. Not a real hard tip to follow, unless you are as stupid as these three idiots. Dobey had a very very long history of arrest records, he was not a good citizen of the Navajo Nation or San Juan County. He had beaten up several Navajo Police Officers (heck several were afraid of him) and tried on several other Farmington Officers (fortunately they show up with several Officers).
No real big loss with Dobey, the wounded Dobey was just as bad, but we will have to continue to pay for his sorry butt to sit in jail everytime he gets drunk and decides to risk others lives.

So this douch bag gets a medal for shooting victims whom might not did the attacking on him. The court and law system might know the real situation and trying to cover it up with a precious medal. Ihope they poke you with that rempe. everyone is saying well done to rempe, you guys are a bunch of fools and for telling others that they are just listening to gossip. you guys might be listening to gossip and how do you know the victims records huh. all i can say is what comes around goes around and it'll all go back to him full force and he won't know what to do. a medal, please!!!!! he gets two kick in the nuts.
