Peach farmers around Fredericksburg and Stonewall, Texas have been hit by the drought, freezes and hail.

Gillespie County, the leader in Texas peach production each year, won't be serving up any fresh peaches anytime soon.

News about this year's Fredericksburg peach crop is not good. Gillespie County Agriculture Extension Agent Brad Roeder estimates there will only be a 5% to 10% peach crop.

A Mansfield couple was killed Thursday afternoon when their single-engine plane crashed near an airport in Fredericksburg, authorities and a family member said.

The Cessna 182, a single-engine aircraft capable of seating four, was slated to land at the Gillespie County Airport at 1:17 p.m., airport manager Roger Hansen said.

According to Lynn Lunsford with the Federal Aviation Administration, the single-engine plane came down at about 1:30 p.m. KXAN in Austin reports the plane crashed into a pasture near the 1200 block of Hollmig Lane, just two miles northeast of Gillespie County Airport while the pilot was attempting to land.
