ABERDEEN — Cattle ranchers in the Northern Plains who have been waiting nearly six years for a new slaughterhouse in northern South Dakota are excited that the facility is almost fully operational, saying it will provide benefits such as savings on transportation costs.

A South Dakota couple accused of criminal embezzlement has been ordered in a civil case to repay more than $100,000 to the estate of a relative from whose accounts they allegedly transferred considerable sums of money.

Superintendent Tim Frederick told the Mobridge-Pollock School Board, Monday, March 12, the district had been approved to receive more than $930,000 in Qualified Zone Academic Bonds .

One of the suspects arrested in a weekend drive-by shooting near Barnard will make his first appearance in court today.
