Chief Deputy Tommy Hollin told the Texarkana Gazette newspaper that officials believe a guard sneaked the hacksaw inside at the request of inmates.

In February, two Miller County Jail inmates got out through a hole in the roof. Then in April, three inmates used a hacksaw to escape from the jail. And just a few days ago, six inmates used a hacksaw to cut through window bars and jump to the yard below. Five of the men — using a blanket to top the razor wire — made it over the fence into the night.

A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night trying to break into the Miller County jail.
