I photographed the Fin Whale two years ago at Blue's Beach and when I saw this story about the Blue, I decided *not* to bother the owners of the properties. Articles stated "PRIVATE PROPERTY" so I decided to respect that and can hardly understand WHY so many people would place their own lives in jeopardy to see this massive creature! Sure it's rare, sure it's unusual, but why bother the home owners and why harass them? This isn't *their* fault that the whale accidentally struck the research vessel and washed ashore near *their* homes. It was simply the way the ocean moved it. Sure would have been better had the whale washed up in a more accessible location, BUT, I for one, am glad it didn't, because someone probably would have taken a chainsaw to the flukes and severed one off, like they did with the fin whale.

the loss of two blue whales the female and her offspring. |

Does anyone else know if the loss of the calf has been documented? |
