Formoso named Tree City USA for 23rd year
Formoso has been named a Tree City USA community for the 23rd year by the Arbor Day Foundation.
Mayor LaVernia Peters said, "I'm pleased that once again Formoso will receive this award. Trees are important to all citizens and they are needed to purify the air." She and Nancy Spiegel, a tree board member, will go to Manhattan this week to receive the award.
John Rosenow, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation, said, "Tree City USA designation recognizes the work of elected officials, staff and citizens who plant and care for the community forest.
