Forest Hills Road reopened Thursday afternoon, one day ahead of schedule. N.C. Department of Transportation closed the road at the railroad crossing in front of Westwood Shopping Center Tuesday to allow Carolina Coastal Railroad to rebuild the crossing.

The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning for the southeast Kentucky counties of Pike and Floyd until 10:45 p.m., and continued a flash flood watch for counties in southwest West Virginia.
