“She came up with the needed money on a one-woman crusade and another project is closer to completion because of individual initiative.”
Last week, I wrote about Follett Christmas Parade and forgot to talk about the year that the Santa Claus for the Methodist Church appeared and was reported to be extraordinarily "jolly" and the members were concerned and puzzled because Santa appeared unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurry. It appeared that Santa had enjoyed a bit of Christmas cheer prior to his appearance at the church. Upon closed inspection after the children reported that Santa smelled "funny", it was concluded that Santa was "snockered". It is a good thing he appeared at the Methodist Church. Names have been omitted to protect the guilty. Read more

Wolf Creek Heritage Museum Notes
Follett held their first Christmas Parade in 1929 with a two day affair on two Saturdays . Each Saturday events were a parade with prizes for the best costumes, etc. A santa . They also had candy for every child. The attendance was reported to be between 2000 to 2500.
The parade continued through the years but had been reduced to one Saturday by the third year. They also tossed live turkeys off the roof . I would like to know the origin and rationale for this tradition.
In 1930, Santa arrived in Follett driving his oxen team who he borrowed from Mr. Dick Cann of Higgins. This was a real treat for the children. The attendance was again in the 2000s. Read more
