If the Chamber of Commerce (business owners) and the Electric Utilities are against something then you better believe they are looking out for their own interests and not those of their customers.

why don't you hold the Forum at some time OTHER THAN 9:30 IN THE MORNING??? Most people work you know, and can't attend at that time, unless all you are looking for are the retired people. Some of us working people might like to hear what is said. The Chamber is A LOBBY GROUP, and we all know how full of Washington they are. Maybe if the Chamber wants to do something to help business owners and the people of South Baldwin, they should LOBBY to Electric Utilities to lower our rates. Just so you know, I'm against cap and trade - it's a wash because I can run a business under the cap and Joe the Plumber can be over his cap and buy my extras so he comes in under the line. THIS BILL IS A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT DESIGNED TO BE A SMOKESCREEN. By the way, in last year's election, if you do your homework enough you will find that McCain and Palin's answer to global warming was a CAP AND TRADE BILL, one very similar to the one being opposed by the majority of the Republian Party now. They are all one and the same - THIEVES IN THE NIGHT LOOKING OUT FOR THEIR OWN INTERESTS.

This Cap & Trade B.S. will be the biggest tax increase in History and will effect every one.You might as well forget running you're Air Conditioner, and also stock up on candles because you won't be able to afford to turn you're lights on.You're energy bill will be any where from 1000 to 3000 dollars a yr. more according to the analysts. Also, the energy companies are not going to stay here when they can move out of the Country and avoid the taxes, this will also mean loss of jobs.

I don't like it for other reasons that are more logical, but I don't buy into those "scare tactics". The numbers I have seen are much lower, like taking the end zero off those numbers. Being able to buy credits to reach compliance is nothing more than one person having more money than the next; they can buy their way out of it - the compliance is a joke. Either you come in under the cap or you don't, but it should be a level playing field. Besides, as long as China, India, and other nations keep polluting at the rate they are, especially China, we're all spittin' into a hurricane. Washington is full of hot aired idiots on both sides of the alphabet, and until we shut them up, we will have our world and theirs. It's not a "D" or an "R" issue either, because in last year's campaign, McCain/Palin solution to global warming was cap and trade. They are all one and the same.

Global Warming Cap-and-Trade Costs Could Hit $300 Billion Annually, Cost Up to Several GDP Points, US Treasury Admits
Treasury Dept Releases Un-redacted Documents Friday Afternoon
Washington, D.C., September 18, 2009―Global warming cap and trade costs could hit $300 billion annually, the Treasury Department admitted in documents released today – late in the afternoon and on the day of the Jewish New Year celebration. The same documents had been released by Treasury earlier this week but had important parts redacted. Now, the document is available in its entirety for public scrutiny.
The new information reveals that Treasury estimates that not only could cap and trade cost $300 billion annually,“domestic policies to address climate change and the related issues of energy security and affordability will involve significant costs and potential revenues, possibly up to several percentage points of annual GDP (i.e. equal in size to the corporate income tax).”
The documents were obtained by CEI Senior Fellow Christopher Horner through a Freedom of Information Act request and revealed in a Friday afternoon release after public attention to an earlier version raised questions of what the administration was hiding.
“Today's release explains why the administration initially sought to keep its internal aspirations and expectations from the public: The cost of a cap-and-trade plan to businesses and consumers will be enormous,” said Horner. "This candid perspective of what could prove to be the biggest tax increase in our nation's history now must be openly debated before the American public".
A cap-and-trade plan, as called for by President Obama, would either immediately sell all carbon dioxide emission permits or sell nearly all after a few years of giving industry most of its permits for free.
