Florence council to meet Monday night

The Florence City Council meets for its regular meeting today at 7 p.m. at the Florence Municipal Center located at 600 W. Third St. The council will hear presentations from Richard Upton; Katie McCallister, Fremont County Commissioner candidate; and Tim Jordan, who will speak about railroad crossings. Florence to host Pioneer Day Festival Sept. 19-20

Residents learn history of area through Tour de Coal Towns

Ron Hinkle of the Florence Rotary Club hands out the final card of the inaugural Tour de Coal Town poker run to Nancy Huber of Florence and Denise Miller of Penrose at Pioneer Park in Florence, the last stop of the event, Saturday. The event was organized by the Florence Pioneer Museum and the Florence and Eastern Fremont County Rotary Club to benefit the museum.
