Flora Police Chief John Nicholson releases the following information: Friday, October 30th at 12:48 a.m. the Flora Police Department received a report of a possible burglary in progress at the Flora Post Office, located at 312 East North Avenue .

The Illinois State Police and Wayne County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of a former Bluford resident.

Authorities are working to identify the body of a man found shortly before 11:00 Monday morning in a field in Clay County.

Jurors recommended Friday that Gregory Bowman be executed for the murder of Velda Joy Rumfelt, despite his insistence in testimony earlier in the day that he never killed anyone.

Chief John Nicholson releases the following information: Wednesday, September 23rd at 1:49 p.m. Steven Michael Wathan, 31, of Flora was arrested on a Clay County Warrant for Failure to Appear on original charge of DUI and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol and Two Counts Domestic Battery.

Congratulations today to Coach Greg Schaffer and the Flora Lady Pups Softball Team for winning the Flora Class "L" Regional Championship yesterday, when they defeated Carlyle, 6-1. The Lady Pups will now begin their quest for a state championship when they advance to state tournament play, in Pickneyville, this Saturday.

Sheriff James C. Sulsberger released the following: Thursday, Sept. 24th, Alan S. Carter, 32, Bloomington, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Failure to Secure New Registration, Failure to Signal when Required and Improper Lane Usage.

Chief John Nicholson releases the following information: Monday, September 28th at 4:13 p.m. the department investigated an accident in the 500 block of Seminary Street involving a 2005 Chevy Silverado operated by James L. McKnelly, 80, of Louisville and a 2007 Toyota RX350 operated by Lee Ann Warren, 60, of Clay City.

A Flora home was severely damaged by fire late Tuesday night. According to the Flora Volunteer Fire Department, they received the call at 9:51pm Tuesday evening, to a house on fire at 910 West North Avenue in Flora.

Officials at Flora Bank and Trust announced yesterday that they will be opening a banking facility in Louisville, subject to approval by regulatory agencies.

The Flora Volunteer Fire Department was called out yesterday afternoon at 1:22pm, to a house fire at 7748 Old Highway 50, west of Flora.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department investigated a traffic accident last Friday afternoon, at 2:00pm, south of the Kinmundy Road on Route 45 in Louisville.

Clay County State's Attorney Marilyn D. Brant announced at the September meeting of the Clay County Board that Clay County is the recipient of a $15,000.00 grant from the Illinois Attorney General's office.

Chief John Nicholson releases the following information: Sunday, September 13th at 5:15 p.m. the department investigated an accident on the Wal-Mart Parking Lot involving a parked 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Richard E. Herring of Flora and an unidentified vehicle.

The Flora City Council met in regular session yesterday afternoon at Flora's City Hall.

At yesterday's Flora City Council meeting, the council approved a Development and Real Estate Purchase Agreement with Effingham County-based Wortman-Meyer. The City of Flora will convey to Wortman-Meyer, a 1.52-acre parcel located on the northwest corner of Highway 50 and North State Road.
