Variously swaggering and bumbling, a gang of faux bandits robbed the passengers on the Black River & Western Railroad's run between Flemington and Ringoes three times today. The adventure culminated in a shootout at Pumpkin Junction in which most of the bandits were shot.

Organizing the five-day Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair is a year-round endeavor for plenty of fair board members; 4-H club leaders, members and their parents; and community volunteers. At this year's fair, which ran Aug. 20-24, two people were recognized with the prestigious Roger Everitt Award and another 13 were cited for their work to create and improve the fair, held at the South County Park near Ringoes since 2004.
