A Patchogue kayaker found hanging onto a pylon near Fire Island after flipping his craft and losing his paddle was rescued by Suffolk County police Saturday night, officials said.

A Rockville Centre man was rescued Saturday after he started to drift into the Atlantic Ocean and became stranded in a strong current off Fire Island , Suffolk County police said in a news release.
