Yulee man who worked with children at Boys/Girls club, churches arrested on child-porn charges

Federal authorities have filed child pornography charges against a Yulee man who worked with youths at a Boys & Girls Club in Fernandina Beach, several area churches and advertised his baby-sitting services on the Internet. Nicholas Mitko Clark, 21, was charged in a federal criminal complaint released Monday after being linked to a child pornography investigation last year that led to the arrest of a Canadian man.

Fletcher Ave. burglary spree haulted with 17-year-old's arrest in Fernandina

Fernandina Beach police have nabbed a burglary suspect in a string of crimes following a high-speed chase early Saturday. The Jacksonville 17-year-old is charged with six counts of residential burglary, five counts of grand theft and three counts of vehicle burglary in the back-to-back weekend spree.

Around the Region: Blues festival this weekend; the artistry of the St. John's Bible next week

The fourth annual Amelia Island Blues Festival hits the sand 6-9 p.m. Friday and noon-9 p.m. Saturday at Main Beach Park, 99 N. Fletcher Ave. Tickets range from free to $25 for a two-day pass and $75 for a two-day VIP pass. The festival features artists such as The Mojo Roots, Matthew Curry Band, Bernard Allison, Samantha Fish, John Primer and Curtis Salgado.

Parents of burned 5-month-old arrested

After detectives determined that a 5-month-old had severe burns for six days prior to the parents seeking medical care for boy, the Fernandina Beach Police Department arrested the child's 19-year-old father and 26-year-old mother. When the child was admitted to Baptist Medical Center with second-degree burns on its buttocks, left shoulder and head on Friday, police and child-welfare officials were called.
