The hope of the republican leaders of the National Council for a New America (NCNA) is to ""form the foundation of a concerted, policy-based forum to listen to, partner with, and empower the American people with ideas and solutions that speak directly to the needs of our great nation." This lofty goal is based on the following “blueprint for a conversation with America."
Economy: Real Solutions for Economic Recovery
Healthcare: Building a 21st Century, Patient-Centered System
Education: Preparing Our Children to Succeed
Energy: Solutions for Energy Independence
National Security: Defending American Liberty and Freedom
About all that this illustrious body of the GOP will generate with this blueprint is a big yawn. It is, at best, extremely boring.
There already is a blueprint for “solutions that speak directly to the needs of our great nation.” It’s called “The Preamble to The Constitution” and it reads as follows:“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Read it again, members of the NCNA, and you will discover six specific goals to which all Americans can relate and believe. Use those goals as the basis for your “blueprint for a conversation with America," and clear thinking, patriotic Americans will want to climb on board.
Listening tours be damned. If the GOP wants to win in 2012, it has to teach, not follow. But it has to be believable. Basing its beliefs on The Constitution will make it so.
