Incase you have forgotten we (as the United States of America) on Setember 11th 2001 we all (that's including whites') suffered one the most horrific terroist attacks because are race and religion. BTW There are alot of racist sects that are against white people and I think you have a few on "your rez". Also this was a Navajo kid that did this against a white nun for no other apparent reason other than his own personal gain... Who would have thought. In the mind of an ignorant racist individual, whites have the entitlement to kill another race and it is pardonable. Can you either name or prove one racist "sect" on the reservation? I believe that history shows 12 million American Indians also suffered the most horrific terrorist attacks because of race and religion. They still do. Why is it okay to condone the killing of one race in masse yet when one individual kills the entitled race, it becomes a horrific crime? Does the fact this woman was a nun make her death any worse than if she were not a nun, or not white?

The Catholic Nuns were excellent teachers on the reservations. The BIA schools were often racist and preferred to teach Native Americans 2-3 grades below their level. But the Nuns chose a different strategy. I spoke my indigenous language first until the age of five. Then the Nuns taught me English. I realize now that it was an excellent teaching method. The inferior parietal cortex of the brain is most efficient for learning multiple languages in early childhood. The metabolic activity with glycolysis, development of myelinated nerves, and structural growth of neurological tissues evolve most adequately for multilingual communication before the age of seven. A young child has a central nervous system that adapts for pronunciation, vocal tone, facial expressions, and definitions in multiple languages most loquaciously. Since I became bilingual at age five, I have no problem speaking English or my indigenous language. I attribute that skill to the Catholic Nuns. Sister Marguerite will be missed. I pray that she rests in peace.

It is horrific because this person was probably as close to beign an angel as one can possibly become in adulthood. She literally risked her life keeping her door open to this community wehre wannabes (probably the worst criminal element in society as even real gangsters have values so you know where you stan with them) run rampant and poverty is one check away! I do not disagree that historicaly the Catholic Church had the worst human rights record with American Indians but individual sisters (not all) that followed this onslaught were truly advocates on our part. I dont pardon the behavior of the past but this individual act was "horrific".

A boy killed a woman. Those are the only important facts. That she is was a Nun and he a Navajo does not make her more dead or his guilt any different.
Did he kill her because she was a Nun? Did he commit the crime because he is a Navajo? The answer to both questions is no.
So why all the racist talk coming from both sides?

I am not a racist nor do I condone it I was merely making a point. To those who came late to this forum for the last few days nothing but racist comments have been spewed upon this forum.
For those of you who cry victim for your ancesters more that a 100yrs past. Have the "white people" not apalogized to you enough. why can't people like you learn to let it go and move forward with your lives. I am not white I am half Apache half Hispanic and Iam proud of my mixed race and heritage. I don't dwell on whats happened to my ancestors or let it fill my heart with anger ,hate and racism for a people who were not even there.
Yes, this forum should not have anything to do with racism but it's already been fill up with it. it has nothing to do with religion either but as you can see that been mentioned too.
Racism is a form of Ignorance and Ignorance is a form of Denial.

For your information, technically the prarie is nearer to Denver than Navajo NM so he is not a "prarie" person and no he would not be black so why the racist N word? Are you trying to say that all Indians are Prarie N's? You are a sad case and you have my sympathy.

I dont pardon the behavior of the past but this individual act was "horrific". I agree with you. This is a tragic death. Why do good people have to die? Why does it have to be a person who is loved and respected? What I wanted to point out, and failed to do so, is that I read the posts in the Farmington Topix. They are so biased against the Indian people here. Should Indians not receive the same sympathy for their tragedies? I believe this nun felt love for the Navajo. I believe she would be hurt if she read the ugly comments about them and their misfortunes. If an Indian is murdered or beaten with an axe, there are dozens of posts with derogatory comments towards the victims. I do not want or mean to come off as being irreverent about this nun’s death. If she read the posts in the Farmington Topix she may have wondered the same thing about the racist attitudes voiced in these discussions. Is that not why she chose to live and work among the poor and oppressed. She was following the example set by Jesus.

WE are all guilty Our young daughters and sons are in Iraq and Afghanistan killing even tho' the Bible says thou shall not kill. These bad things like DUI's and killings are only symptons and we fail to recognize the real cause. Greed sells alcohol and no jobs leads to robberies and killings. VERY Sad indeed. Sacrifices for freedom, that's what this country is built upon. It's a tough row to hoe. It's also reality. If you want to continue to enjoy the freedom this great country allows, being a patriot is a part of it. Fight for the right to say what you just said. Set the example. Children learn what they live. Don't make excuses for bad behavior, don't defend poor choices. Except and take responsibility for your own actions.

I don't give a crap if this kid is white, black, yellow, green, purple, blue, orange or the whole friggin' rainbow. He can be gay or straight,a christian or and athiest, what the eff ever!!!! Point is, he killed someone. WHY?? is what we should be asking here. What in the world would possess a person to kill someone who means no harm. It's just like any other murder.... it's heinous and unjustified. There is no excuse for this young man's behavior.... END OF STORY!!!

They walked along way and it was cold. The whites did not care for us Navajos! They took us off our land and tried to make us eat rotton meat and kept us away from our homeland. What the whites did to my ancestors and my people wont be forgotton. Its an open wound until they apologize. My grandfather always told me not to trust a white person and he is right, they have two tongues and an evil eye that will trick you into something. To the Navajos, have your grand parents or parents tell you anything? All I see these days is Navajos trying to be a white person, how sad for them. They cant even speak there own language. And the government for the Navajo nation what a joke that is, and it is embarrassing. Its just people trying to be white.
