Does this headline really use the word, "Till" to replace "Until"? Journalism just "ain't" what it used to be.

It seems outrageous that any of the upper managers in this ongoing travestry are moving on to other management positions in health care in one case, at least, a position that involves responsibility for some of the very same homes. Where is the AG? The combined decisions by these for the most part licensed professionals certainly rose to the level of resident abuse, a felony. The manner in which they directed the relevent staff certainly rose to the levels of Medicaid and Medicare fraud. So the hypocrisy that Haven became and the hypocrites that made the daily decision to make it so continue on. "Tender Loving Greed" remains alive and well.

While clearly, no intelligent arguement can change your limited point of view, from a legal point of view, you have no idea what you are talking about. Fraud and felony have very defined legal interpretations. You clearly have no idea of what the legal definition of these terms are and should not be throwing them around as if you do. Leave the legal terms and aspects to the experts, who by the way have failed to find any examples of either!

How can the State appointed Patient Care Officer suddenly take over 14 homes, and take all the top players of Haven with him. Tony is going to oversee all facilities out of state. Whats wrong with those State this ASS----- was the President of Haven. He also took his part of the the elderly with a little Haven boat of his own. Same management is sure to finish all those home off. Ray may have taken money, but these idiot were the string pullers each day. Their daily running of things speak to it's own accountablity. This TC couldn't have been so impartial that he was planning his own take over for personal gain while all these talks broke down. You all deserve each other, but those 14 home will still suffer. How the AG and state official can let this happen blows my mind.

Soe and others on this topic are complete idiots. The fall of Haven and all the other failing nursing home chains in CT (30% of all operators out of business over past 10 years), is by design from the Dept of Social Services. They do not like union homes. They want to close all union facilities. They admit to this strategy. Haven Healthcare actually was one operator who did amazingly well with little funding from the state. They managed to outdo all their CT competition with efficiencies due to their outstanding occupancy over the years. They were the company of choice by the customers, as they enjoyed an average of 95-96% occupied companywide (best in state). By the way, that statistic is pretty impressive as the state averages only 91%. That number tells you Haven ran high quality care nursing homes (nothing even close to what you read in this rag paper the Hartford Courant) The customer chose over and over again Haven, because of quality. So back to the point, why did Haven fail? Not because of Tony or others at the top of Haven's hierarchy (Tim Coburn would never appoint them on his management team if he didnt believe in them...TIm truthfully acknowledged Haven Management Team as the Best he has seen in New England...and that goes a long way as he has over 30 years experience!). The problem lies with a significant arrogance by DSS and their continuance of their plan to close nursing homes throughout the state to save money. Well that is disgusting, as homes are starved off by Richter and Starkowski because they pay good wages to caregivers who have longevity. Who care about their patients! Why cant hard workers today earn a half way decent income and defined pension? Why is Gary and Michael opposed to supporting unions? These are questions to ask? Why did DSS starve Haven for 10 years at Medicaid Rates 33% less then other nursing home providers? I know the answer, because they knew Haven was doing a decent job with efficiencies and could weather the storm with their high occupancy. Why dont they tell the public the truth? Blaming Termini on Cat 5 records is a cop out, other owners throughout the state do the same....own golf courses, restaurants, basketball teams, etc....list goes on and on.

This mess is getting messier. There must be a good reason why the first company backed out and why it has been so hard to find a replacement. DSS is not easy to do business with, this is true. How the heck does Rev. Doherty (whoever he is) own three of the homes? Did he also own part of Haven or just the real estate?

Another idiot heard from.....anyone else? How could you respond to this story and not know Fr. Doherty? The responses just keep getting dumber and dumber. Where is Formation Nation and Corrupticut when you need intelligent jibes. "As Haven fades into the past folding its sails off of the mast upon the horizon shines a new light enter TC healthcare Management into the fight" "Through all of the lies, a great company will fall. But who is to blame.... its maybe the Courant or maybe Blumenthal. "

Reading these blogs it's evident that some of the writers are personally vested. I have to agree with Soe. If Tim Coburn was appointed as a impartial Patient Care Officer, how come so many people knew of this management team being formed, prior to failed deal after failed deal. Why will Tony be in RI and the majority of the Haven management team follow TC? Doesn't seem to make any sense that any of these people should manage the same facilities that they sat back and watched decompose. But to all the staff in the facilities who provide the care and continue to remain vested, congratulations for conducting yourselves with the integrity your management team has lacked!

So I ask on to all of you, what was the end result of the public onslaught by the AG and the courant? You say to take down haven management. Many of the bloggers say that some of the higher management staff will be retained. So obviously that didn't work. Was it to maintain stability within the facilities? Well as this article mentions, because of the weakened occupancy, the future viability of these homes may be in doubt. Yet deal after deal for this company has fallen through????? Anyone care to venture a guess? I applaud the courant if there intentions were whole hearted but the more you see this mess unravel, you see possibly a conspiracy deeply rooted. I know these reits can deliver, I just wonder at who's expense!!! God bless TC management and all involved in the Haven mess, staff and vendors alike.

Yeahhhhhh, your an idiot too. Was this the first article you read? This is why no one gives any credit to journalism such as the courant. People like you take the last thing they read and run with it. I hate to steal a line from an esteemed person but I feel it best to say, "did I mention you were an idiot too"

Leave the legal terms and aspects to the experts, who by the way have failed to find any examples of either! I am not an expert in law and freely admit so, but fraud and felony are used precisely and after due consideration. To wit: It is fraud to certify a patient for Medicare who is able to use a car to leave the facility when he chooses. An event that has happened at at least three Haven facilities. Patrick Keaveney chose not to correct the matter. A C.N.A. who chose during the winter to close the door to a resident room and open the windows would be charged with a felony if not multiple depending on the damage done. To intentionally choose not to pay the fuel bill at a facility because the money has been spent elsewhere and effect the comfort and health of an entire facility seems to me a more heinous act. To have it occur twice certainly meets the criteria. But I am no expert.

The State of Ct is comfortable with this move. Whats your problem....move on. A new company, a new day. The investors, the state, the department of Public Health and a Federal Judge have reviewed this plan and have determined it is the best way to go. They have excluded some employees and others are limited. Power of decisions have gone to an objective outsider who was brought in as a watchdog by the state and the court, analyzed the problems and has come up with solutions to these problems. Why would anyone think that this is a poor choice? You have no knowledge of the changes that have been made, nor have you seen the good employees step up and make changes. After this fiasco, largely blown up by the Courant and the AG, people should be happy that there is a new start with people who care and let this new company take over the operations and take care of the residents. Good luck to all involved.

I find it odd that 1199, known for its virulent tactics and excellent use of the media in presenting its agenda has to my best information not said a word during this entire unfolding. Why would they continue to refrain from speaking up in the face of an, forgive me, organized agenda against thier members and themselves. I do not deny the possibility of such an agenda just find the silence odd. Where is Carmen Yadayada?

Follow the money, again. You mean to tell us that our elderly folks are being taken care of by INVESTMENT FIRMS and their hired guns? Why isn't THAT more generally known (we know about the union) ...I wonder what's more financially valuable, the residents or their retirement assets? Who really wants to take care of our seniors, as opposed to getting their money?

Running a business, especially a nursing home, without regard to financial viability, puts all of them at risk. No Money, No Mission. Wake up!
