Hall of Fame

At Lancaster's April 1866 Town Meeting, the decision was made to build a Civil War memorial "... and that it should take the form of a building for the public use, with appropriate tablets and inscriptions upon its wall." Thayer Memorial Library stands on Lancaster's Town Green, but at her core is a much smaller spot than that of the library's current structure -- Memorial Hall -- a combination Civil War memorial dedicated to Lancaster's brave soldiers and Lancaster's public library.
