According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in Mt. Vernon, one of their own deputies has been charged with DUI, following a single vehicle accident south of Radom in Washington County over the weekend.

The White County Sheriff's Department, in Carmi, is asking for the public's help to find an anhydrous ammonia thief.

The North Wayne School District met in regular session earlier this week. In personnel matters, the board recalled the following individuals: Angel Davis and Tuesday Wilson, as special education aides; Tina Dulaney, as a special education bus driver; Sheila Massie, as a 5-8 reading and math aide; and, Dawn Wiles, as a K-4 reading aide.

Carpenter, 45, of Flora, Ill., was driving a Lincoln Continental with four passengers on U.S. 45 north of Geff when the 32,000-pound truck ran through an intersection and broadsided her vehicle.

Alvin L. "Buddy" Ewing, 45, was riding his motorcycle on U.S. Route 45 between Springerton and Enfield about 9:30 p.m. when he collided with a deer.
