When will any portion of our county get recycling? How does our county supposedly meet its state mandate for waste diversion without curbside recycling? What does our county know that no other county in California has figured out?

arkata will love the bluebins. It is so easy for the unhomed to fill their carts from the bluebins, all the goods are in one spot. The unhomed are not harrased by the cops because their is no complaints of noise or theft or distubance of any kind. This is a victemless crime. Except the city looks like a dump with all the BlueBins in every front yard or ally.

"The standard service level is a 30-gallon tote with weekly pick-up, which is $23.06 per month" is a tax but not a tax. HUH?

Is that $23.06 in addition to the regular garbage rate? I moved from Arcata last year and am happy to report that my water and garbage bills went down considerably. I pay $25/m for garbage that includes garbage, recyclables and green waste (3 rolling cans). Water rates in Arcata were so high it was almost laughable...

When I lived in Eugene 10 years ago we got discounts on the garbage bill if we used the recycliing curb side pick-up. Here in Mt Shasta we take our own garbage to the dump. One 30 gal bag RECYCLE and two 30 gal garbage bages FIVE BUCKS!

Those bright blue totes are an eyesore in every neighborhood. The color should have been one that blended with the surroundings.

I predict that the Arcata Garbage Co. will be before the Arcata City Council with 9 months seeking a rate increase and of course it will be approved.

Obviously it's just a tax, everyone needs service so that the Arcata city council can figure out a way to waste this money, maybe they can paint more bike signs in the roadways? Or they could put a green can for green waste in front of your house so you don't have to drive all the way to wes green...
Arcata is so behind the times when it comes to recycling and waste, bay area has had better programs for decades and they actually have a population...Humboldt is a joke! But hey Arcata is making money, right?

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Sagittarius

You still prefer to be in a world of your own, in which nothing nasty is happening, but at least you're feeling a little more realistic than you were yesterday. It's a perfect day for visiting somewhere beautiful, peaceful or relaxing, or for going to the cinema or an art gallery. But it will be difficult to get up the energy for any prolonged Christmas shopping.
