Feds' threat to pull road funds prompts Lujan to remove sign

The truth is that you were in love with the monthly checks coming in to deposit in your bank account. I hope the Feds still hold back the money on your "Magical interchange to nowhere". The people of La Puebla needed this more than you. I hope J. Don Martinez holds back federal funding based on safety and traffic data. Who's lives around your interchange but the snakes and coyotes like you. The Rio Grande Sun put it best, "don't fret Ben, at least you got 16 years of illegal income". Face it you are a greedy pig!!! HouseSpeaker Lujan did the right thing in removing his billboard. He should be compsensated for the loss of his billboard.

The sign is illegal. He shouldn't have been profiting from an illegal sign, much less had it up in the first place.

He has the nerve to ask why everyone is asking about his sign. Does the state turn a blind eye to all people flagrantly breaking the law or just the lucky, politically connected few? Does the state compensate LAWBREAKERS when they break the law?? If Lujan is compensated won't the state have to compensate every owner of every illegal sign in the state? I'll bet Lujan's lawyer will ask for the value of the revenue stream that he would have been collecting if the sign had not been taken down. What chutzpah!

If he is compensated on an illegal sign it will set a trend next thing you know they will want compensation when they stop getting bribes down at the roundhouse.

It's sad when the Federal government has to step in to stop an illegal activity because New Mexico State government lacks the ethics or moral character to do so.

Two questions, why do we have elected officials who break the law with impunity? Why do we have a state government that refuses to take action about such illegal activity?

What billboard was that? What did it advertise?

Didn't Terrell inform the readers that this old man has re-directed an interchange AWAY from a very dangerous intersection and placed it near his property to increase value? That is the real story here because it is a safety issue that he has subverted in order to increase the value of his land. Lujan is a PUNK!

I don't know why I'm drawn to read these stories. I get so upset I just about explode. As a native, you'd expect I'd be used to it, but it's just the opposite.

The dishonesty of our politicians is just getting worse. And now this man's well trained son is starting another generation of it.
