Bridge Weight Limit Lowered By Town

Full story: Hartford Courant

The town has lowered the weight limit on the South Maple Street bridge to 8 tons, down from 10, after a recent inspection by the state that documented "section loss" and rusting, said Public Works Director Piya Hawkes.

So why is this bridge not being repaired now! What is taking so long? Are they waiting for the bridge to collapse?

I'm sorry, but if a firetruck needs to find an alternate route to my home then there is a problem that needs to be addressed now, no then the federal govt. gets involved.

Yet the town can pay all this money for fireworks and their precious 4th of July celebration along with paying the overtime salaries of all the policeman and extra staff needed for that event.

Maybe you should talk to Con OLeary - after all, he IS the one who runs the town. You thought maybe First Selectman Steve Wawruck made some decisions? Not without Con telling him what to do!
