Windsor Locks Probate Judge To Retire
William Leary, the town's probate judge, has spent more than half of his life, 37 years, sorting out estates and contested wills. On his way to retirement next month, he'll step down as one of the longest-serving probate judges in the state.
'When I started here, we were pretty much confined to estate administration,' Leary said.
Since he was first elected in 1971, he has seen the addition of child custody, termination of parental rights, title disputes and - his favorite - adoption approvals to the jurisdiction of probate court.
Eutiquio Reyes, of 32 Church St., is charged with attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying a weapon and second-degree breach of peace.

Enfield, Tolland Churches Merging, To Use Somers School
Since Easter, Barry Andrusik has spent his Sundays praying, preaching and driving back and forth between Enfield and Tolland, where he was the pastor at both the 10-year-old Enfield Community Church and the new Tolland Community Church.
The two churches will merge Sunday to form New Life Community Church, which will meet in the auditorium of Somers Elementary School on Ninth District Road. Andrusik had planned to serve as pastor of the separate churches for several years before combining them, but space problems in Enfield and Tolland led the churches to merge sooner than expected. The town of Enfield renovated the community center where Enfield Community Church had been meeting to create space for some municipal departments, decreasing the space available for the church's use, said Enfield Town Manager Matthew Coppler. Tolland Community Church was told it could no longer use Parker Memorial School, which will be closed this fall, Andrusik said. 'The first thing happened with the Enfield building and a couple weeks later that happened with Tolland,' Andrusik said. 'So I said, 'Well, I guess God has moved up the timetable.' It amazes me how God's timing is not our timing.' Church members are excited about the move. 'I think it'll be great because we'll have an opportunity perhaps to reach some people in Somers as well as the roots we planted in these other two towns. That's the basic hope I have,' said church member Richard Davis. 'Pastor Barry is just a real down-to-earth preacher, so I think he'll have a lot of appeal.' The church is one of several organizations that use Somers school district facilities, said Bill Boutwell, the district's director of business services. The church pays a rental fee and custodial fees to the district to use the elementary school auditorium, Boutwell said. The first service at New Life Community Church will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 55 Ninth District Road. For more information, visit the church's website at http://www.NewLifeCommunityChurchCT.org .
