DiNapoli: Maine-Endwell CSD Underestimated Fund Balance & Reserves by $6.7M

Due to poor accounting, the Maine-Endwell Central School District underestimated its fund balance and reserves by $6.7 million - " money that could have been used to lower taxes, according to an audit released by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

Broome County sees 'sharp increase' in flu cases

Swine flu is here, but there isn't enough vaccine to prevent infection. Broome County Health Department officials were reporting a 'sharp increase' Monday in the number of Influenza A cases from last week and say it's likely most of those cases are H1N1 influenza.
