A public hearing was held at the Sept. 22 meeting of the Emery County Commission.

Cleveland Town met in their September meeting at the town hall. Bryan Christensen presented a card access system for the new fire station.

Duane and Erma Jones will celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary on June 4. They were married in Cleveland on June 4, 1949.

Memorial Day was observed in Emery County with a number of programs at local cemeteries.

Twelve students from Carbon and Emery counties have been rewarded for their academic excellence with college scholarships from Emery Telcom.

Two employees were honored at the May school board meeting. Iva Wilske was named the teacher of the year and Roma Brotherson was named the support staff person of the year.

As part of the International Baccalaureate Program at Ecker Hill International Middle School, sixth-grade students are required to complete at least six hours of community service.
