John,
The old DHS Farm ought to be bought by the county and turned into the Master Gardners Farm. A communty farm to raise food for the needy. Labor supplied by the needy. A training ground for home grown farm workers and truck farmers.

Please, give it a rest. We need new blood with (right)eous thought and not the usual tax and spend lack of wisdom.

What does Vasquez mean by "right-sizing the government"? Leaning it more to the right? Just what is the right size? Who determines that? And what are some details about "working on economic development"? Let's have some specific information, not just the vague platitudes, please.

One cannot claim 30 years of public service if the majority of those years were former Supervisor Carrolls gopher. He only has 11 years in elected or appointed public service. His 15 minutes are up.

Give it up? Common. John likes the salary and benefits he is ripping off from the taxpayers and you want him to give it up?

Isn't "right-sizing" one of the buzzwords from the early 90s?
We need to have our useless politicians using more current buzzwords.

Does more "economic development" mean more loitering outside Home Depot by recent invaders?

"Childhood obesity" are you kidding me?
You want to help with an obesity problem, start by changing
the menus at your deli! That shouldn't be a "hard decision".

How many years did ol' John have to "right size" the county government.

Since he and the rest of the "gang of 5" just want to tax, spend and grow their empire, I say "throw all incumbents out"

sad to say, John has just become another politician. Was a strong suporter for tw terms. Saw enough to believe hecan't or won't make the kind of diffence we need. And just when was the last time anyone saw him working at the deli? Stop by or call and ask for him, see what they have to say. No doubt ZJohn has done some good in some areas, but its time fr him to rotate out. If you don't want politics as usual, then don't leave any of them in office long for that to happen. Your choice.

Flip,
That was sorta tongue in cheek...
I would like to see it happen but I just don't have the time to do it. I have to work to pay the bills and put the kids through school....

Like many politicians, they start off meaning well and then fall into the trap of trying to live off their elected office. John's supervisor position has become his career. I have supported him over the years going back to his days on the Vacaville city council. But I can no longer support John as he is a responsible party to County Administrator's financial empire. He has and continues to vote yes on Mr. Johnson pay increases and supervisor salary and benefits. I do believe that it is time to elect some new blood so that John can go back to working in his family deli.

Missed my point I see.
Oh you're one of those "all talk, no action" type of people. Words and ideas are the start of something, but it takes action to make it happen. Maybe start with some smaller steps and less sarcasm. If you put your ideas out there to those w/the resources (action), you might be surprised how many folks would jump on board. Once the ball is rolling, it could attract those w/a similar vision. It's your idea...act on it. I'm all for donating to a cause. If I saw that this was in the works, there's no doubt I'd contribute, but you have to start it somewhere.

Flip,

I take action on a lot of things but one can only do so much. I am tapped out on time right now and can not commit to additional projects.

I've thought about the school farm a lot. I believe that it could be given a new life within the community. I'd like to see the community retain the farm and use it to raise food for the needy.

The farm could also be used as a school to teach organic truck farming. In fact just across and down the road there is a commercial organic truck farm that is very successful, what a great example.

I bet we have folks in the community that have available time, money and the energy to give a project like this some legs.

You just might be that person; something tells me that you are.

Some day in the future I will have the time and I'd love to be involved. I'd be happy to place some bee hives on the farm and help out that way.

Oh and sorry about the sarcasm. I did not intend to upset you...I was just trying to be snarky.
