Elkridge Man Charged in Molotov Cocktail Incident: Police

A man accused of throwing a molotov cocktail at the Diamondback Tavern in Ellicott City Friday faces multiple charges including arson, according to the Howard County Police Department. Kenneth Norman Conway, 24, of the 6800 block of Sanctuary Court in Elkridge, was being held at the Howard County Detention Center Friday in connection with a fire outside the restaurant.

Howard County firefighters were joined by elected officials Monday morning to break ground on a new Elkridge fire station, a facility officials said is overdue and integral to the Elkridge community. The $13.5-million facility will be at the corner of Montgomery Road and Bauman Drive and is expected to open in the summer of 2016, with construction beginning spring of 2015.

Elkridge Man Pleads Guilty in Racketeering, Gun Trafficking Case

An Elkridge man pleaded guilty to charges of racketeering, gun trafficking and firing a weapon to commit a violent crime, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland said Friday. Giovanni Wright, 22, was a member of the Bloods gang since at least 2010, according to his plea agreement, in which he admitted to participating in racketeering conspiracy as a member of the Howard County Bloods "Swann" set and "Cut Throat Committee," or local subsets of the gang.

Howard developer uses 'LLC loophole' on Weinstein finance report

In the close race for County Council in District 1, one candidate's campaign coffers got a significant boost from a Howard County developer earlier this summer while another candidate's funds come mostly from out of state, finance reports show. Consulting business owner Jon Weinstein, the Democratic candidate for the contested council seat that represents Ellicott City, Elkridge and Hanover, received $6,000 from four limited liability companies owned by developer Donald Reuwer Jr. skirting the normal state limit of $4,000 and another $3,000 from two LLCs registered to owners with a similar name and the same address.
