This is something new? We didn't know this? WHY WONT THE GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER THIS AND FIX IT??? They take over everything else. They abuse the ones out of there care that need there help as well, like obtaining child support! The whole DHS system is a joke. If you are a female you can get pretty much anything you want. If you are a male you get the minimum and back of the line (and no I am not a male). There is no fairness, no constant rules, no knowledgeable person to speak to. This whole system needs an overhaul.

I applaud and commend the New York organisation known as " Children's rights" Thank you for coming to the defence of the defenceless. Thank you for being their voice and speaking for them. It is well known how horrible the entire DHS group is here in Oklahoma. They know nothing of civil rights.

It amazes me how DHS continues to place kids with these abusive foster parents. These kids don't have a chance; they are victims in their own homes and victims while in state care. It's past time for a DHS overhaul. Does no one in our Government care about what is going on here? What more has to happen before action is taken against DHS?

I wonder why these children are not with their parents? Shouldn't the parents be held responsible, or some of their extended families. If the parents were taking care of them, absolutely none of this would be happening.

What's sad is these kids r taken out of their homes cause the parents arent good to them . Then have to go another home that they r worst or get the same treatment. I just cant see how people could hurt kids it sickens me.

Wow....I'm glad DHS chose to disclose a relatively mild case to publicize.....only problem I see with the headline is that it should be more along the lines of "OKDHS Narrowly Achieves Par for the Course". OKDHS is an embarrassment to the citizens of Oklahoma and a problem for anyone unfortunate enough to have them involved in their lives.

I agree, but the sad thing is that so many people don't like the way the system is but don't do anything about it. If you all have a problem with it step up and be a foster parent help these children out. DHS is so desperate for foster parents, they have way more children than homes for them it really is sad.

I understand there are going to be a few homes in the system that are NOT well fit for children to be placed in. I think the homes that do provide good care, great care, and even the ones that go above and beyond get overlooked. Everyone likes to rip DHS, foster care, etc. but what are thet doing to fix the problem. There are plenty of good homes out there, and those people who think they have a better plan should open thier homes.

I would open my open to a foster child but because of age and health issues that is impossible..I know for a fact that years ago a little girl was placed in a home not far from Tulsa..the woman she was placed with...She had step children and was very very abusive to particularly one of them. I witnessed her switch that little girls legs until they were blood red...I was so glad when they came and got the little girl..She never had another foster child..She was meaner than a rattle snake and made it look like in her interviews that she was the kindest little older lady there was...that is how kids get placed in homes that are unfit.. it is the acting they do to get them...I pray another child has to go thru what these children have gone thru...

It seems as if we care more about the handling of animals then the care of our kids. We are more than willing to remove animals from a home on a permanent basis and see that there temparory homes are suitable. For some reason in this state it seems that DHS would rather continue to see our kids abused not only by there parents but by there foster parents. Its seems they are willing to take extra measures to do check ups on the foster parents that are doing right by the kids, then they are willing to investigate and seek out those who are harming our kids. DHS says they do a good job considering the amount of staff but I think if they spend a little more time with the ones they suspect of child abuse than the ones they know for a fact are not harming the kids, they might get somewhere. To me it seems as if DHS is only doing half their job. It disturbs me to think that these people are highly educated but are willing to turn a blind eye to the hard facts.

So do you people think DHS goes out looking for kids to; first take out of their parents home and second to move kids out of foster homes for no reason? Kids are moved from foster homes because the foster parents call and ask them to be moved because of one reason or another. I wish DHS would allow people who think social workers there are worthless to spend one day in those shoes. The angry mob situation is tired and there are always openings if people think they can do it better.

Apparently, we must overturn Roe V Wade, so that more unwanted children shall be born. This is a PRO LIFE point of view.[sic]

Here we go again! Our system stinks, the courts place the blame on DHS, DHS places the blame on the courts, meanwhile we have kids getting hurt. We are a foster home, a GOOD foster home. We have to sit idly by and watch in horror as this system they call 'protective custody' abuses the kids and our foster homes. Folks, there are crappy foster homes, but unfortunately, there will always be a need for what we refer too as protective custody, because we have idiots out here bringing children into the world that have no business having. If you do your homework you will find that the majority of abuse in foster care occurs in homes of kinship placements, these are homes of relatives (the apple usually has not rolled far from the tree)to the children of families who had a personal relationship with the family and/or children before being placed in 'the system'. DHS and the courts say we need to preserve the family, seriously, we are not preserving families we are preserving cycles, pull your heads out of the sand, it is not working!!!!!! I say to all of you posting, shutup or put up. I have talked with many elected officials with concerns and have had them say it is sad and you feel that maybe, just maybe you made and impact and they are going to take care of our kids. Folks they talk the talk, but that walk they do, is right out the door to never look back. Are our kids not important. Maybe if we put dog tags on them they would get better care. Maybe that is our solution, tag them at birth.

Sorry and to you tulsagirl that can't wait to be a foster parent. I applaud you, and I pray that you have great strength because you are going to need it. DHS shows ya great love when you open your home, but wait till you get a child and you see the horrific manner in which they deal with that child's 'case', they are a number, their hearts are not involved in it, but yours will be ripped to shreds. All I can say, is put it back together for the next one, our kids need good homes and they deserve good homes, even if it is for a short time, afterall that family needs to be preserved, give me a break

The results of the recent performance audit revealed many children had been needlessly/wrongly removed from their homes,(see sq745.org for doc) DHS is a system based on "guilt by allegation", so until parents are found guilty of something in a Court of Law the "presumption of innocence" is still in their favor.

It's interesting that all issues of foster care funding have been quietly dismissed from this lawsuit, but if you read the petition,(see sq745.org for doc) you'll see funding and payments to foster parents was a major issue. Other questions that were brought up at the legislative hearings regarding SSI and other benefits due some children in custody remain unanswered. The question also remains as to why there are conflicting reports regarding the number of children in foster care. That would seem to be a very relevant question since "ghost children",(fictitious children/cases used to collect funding) were revealed by an audit of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth 2 yrs. ago. There are many issues with DHS and they all should be addressed because they are all variables that effect the safety of the children and the integrity/credibility of our system. Many articles and documents regarding Ok. are at www.sq745.org Articles and info showing the problems nationwide can be found at legallykidnapped.com , kidjacked.com , AFRA among other sites.

There is no fairness to anyone in the system needing assistance.
