Radcliff is not prepared for this AT ALL. The traffic on Dixie HWY between 4 and 5p is horrible. I don't know if the economy is to blame (lack of funds) or the city officials.

Your complaining about traffic? The government has brought all of these troops here and can not provide them a place to live. Base housing is full and the men and women that are protecting our country are being forced to live in hotels around the area with their families. Someone definitly should have done better planning.

Wait.. Just a question.. but how exactly is base housing being full the City of Racliff's failure to prepare for the base reallignment? That would be a GOVERNMENT FAILURE to prepare, not a RADCLIFF failure. Radcliff has built new apartment buildings, townhomes, schools, realligning the elementary schools, and yes everything isn't to the last detail perfect. But, in all we have done everything in our power as a City to make it easier and welcoming. As far as the housing on base...... take that up with.. umm dunno who handles the housing and government contracts. But I do know that I have a neighbor that was working for over a year in construction building the housing there for the reallignment... The main company that was doing the jobs contract ended about 3 or 4 months ago and it wasn't picked back up, all of the workers were laid off.

**added note** Lets take a moment to be greatful. She was a single mother doing construction work on Fort Knox. Now she is jobless going into Christmas. Granted its not wonderful to stay in a hotel, however, you have a paying job, family, and the military is I'm sure reembursing your hotel bill.

@really- Radcliff's streets and highways aren't sufficient enough, IMO, to accommodate the influx of people brought on by BRAC. The fact that there isn't enough housing is another issue, which you made some good points; but as noone stated, that isn't Radcliff's failure, but unfortunately it's the gov'ts. It's going to be a difficult transition for the troops, their families and the residents of Radcliff and it's disappointing that the City of Radcliff didn't do a better job at preparing everyone for it.

Not that I enjoy the 1950s housing on Post @ Ft Knox, but I think that the multi-family buildings they have now are better to accommodate the influx better than the mass of duplexes they're looking to build. I know of at least 2 buildings (that's 4-6 actual townhomes) that are now void of occupancy. And these are just the ones I pass on a daily basis. Who knows how many are actually vacant that are deeper in the housing area. They've decided to state the demolition and reconstruction of housing AS these troops are being sent here... It's bad planning at it's finest.

start demolition* not state. Moreover, that's 4-6 townhomes per building. Sorry, just waking up.

Daily Horoscope for December 16

Cancer

Today's New Moon in your sixth house reminds you not to neglect your health or general well-being. It's the ideal time to arrange a check-up with your doctor or dentist, or to follow up a medical query. Cancerians love yummy food, and the festive season is hardly the best time to start a diet, but you still might want to monitor your calorie intake.
