Voluntary evacuation issued for EC, shelter at KE White to open

With the Elizabeth City area now expected to receive gale force winds and between seven and 10 inches of rainfall from Hurricane Florence beginning Wednesday evening, local emergency officials have called for a voluntary evacuation of residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas. The shelter, which will be operated by the American Red Cross, has a capacity of 300.
