An Easthampton woman was charged with assault and battery Tuesday for allegedly burning a Westfield woman's right buttock with a lit cigarette and striking her left buttock with a spatula. The 18-year-old was arrested by Westfield police Monday and arraigned Tuesday.

Sueppel, 50, started work as director of the Emily Williston Memorial Library on July 1. She moved to Easthampton from Iowa, where she had for five months been director of the Algona Public Library.
