Organizers hope Pocono Arts Jubilee becomes a tradition
Supporters of the arts in the Poconos kicked off Sunday what they hope will become a tradition in the area - an arts festival at Rainbow Mountain Resort. The first Pocono Arts Jubilee came about as a way to promote local artists, while benefiting two nonprofits who empower them.

East Stroudsburg pizza parlor offers discounts to homeless
Sangounchitte volunteered last year at the Monroe County Homelessness Initiative's day, when the center was on Lower Main Street in Stroudsburg, and again earlier this year, when the center was taken over by a Philadelphia-based agency and moved to nearby First Street. The center provides a place from which the homeless can apply for jobs, housing and various necessary forms of identification, in addition to offering monthly basic health care at a clinic.

ESU students, staff pay tribute to 9/11 victims -
The Scranton Wilkes-Barre Team RWB Chapter and East Stroudsburg University Student Veterans Center held a tribute on Thursday in honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and those in service to their country since that date.

Second teen charged with assault
Malik Dion Clark, 19, of East Stroudsburg, is the second man charged with attempted murder in an East Stroudsburg assault that put the victim in an eight-day coma, Stroud Area Regional Police said. Clark was arrested Friday night, arraigned Saturday and placed in Monroe County Correctional Facility with bail denied, police said.

Police: Man flees twice in two days
On Sunday, Lamont Anez Wiggins, 29, led police on a high-speed chase, and tried to carjack a motorist after he crashed at a roadblock set up by police near East Stroudsburg. Less than 48 hours earlier, he was arrested in Stroudsburg, also for fleeing police on a motorcycle, and released on $15,000 bail.
