Parents of murder victim call for an end to the violence in East St. Louis

We are still singing the same old song...nothing will change in ESTL unless the mindset changes. You don't have to be a victim of your circumstances, rise above them...too many have in ESTL have lost faith...it's a shame. I remember all sorts of outlets being available to us growing up as a teenager in ESTL. MLK skating rinks, Granite city drive-in theater, Fire & Ice dances at St. Joseph's...not any bullshit to worry about. Our parents and teachers made us proud to be black, you would NEVER, EVER see a kid walking down the street in bagging, sagging clothes...calling each other the "n" word, you just didn't! I remember growing up in the Orr Weathers Apt..apple trees, nice lawns...it is disgusting what home has become...ALVIN PARKS get off you broke ass and do something other than allowing people in YOUR community to drink liquor until 6:00am...

That's sad man...I can't understand why the government in East St. Louis is so relaxed

You right its a mess, I have been comming to the area for 3 years, WOW ESTL is not that big something really needs to be done. Dope slingers all hours of the night, I dont think I have ever seen a police officer not 1 time i been there. Oh i take that back I saw them sitting at Flying J drinkin coffee discussing a murder......I had to go to the police station 1 time i was there an OH i was shocked to see how dirty an nasty it was. Mr. Parks im speaking for your community Do something they need it. They are not bad ppl its ppl living with out..........

The city of East st.louis is a big joke.No longer living there when people ask me where i'm from I tell them"War torn East St. Louis" I am so proud that i had the courage and ability to leave there,people say there's no place like home,Bull Crap,East st. Louis is no home.By leaving there my daughters are model citizens,no longer afraid to sleep at night,can leave their belonging in the front yard and find it there the next day.To the Oneal family you have our deepest sympathy,I've known that family all my life,at least the one's from Golden Garden,so Nelson i am so sorry for your lost. But if I was you i'd pack up whats left of my family and run like hell.
