Everyone is concerned about the violence in black neighborhoods, but what has to be done to stop this wickedness? It is embarrasing that our own black youth are victimizing their own communities. Words can't fully express the shame that's involved in black on black crime, insensitivity, disrespect, and blatant hatred. We are obviously in denial that for this to continue will certainly make us an endangered species. We can no longer blame the 'man' for oppressing us. No, not any more. It seem that all the bad habits that we used to see in other nationalities are being immitated by our youth. I cannot understand this. If they wanted to pick a behavior to emmulate, why don't they choose the positive things, like education, discipline, and positive unity? Come on now, It is time for the young thugs to start being taught by all of us the rich and dignified history that Black people have. These young G's are walking around like devils because they don't know that we are a strong and intelligent people of peace. Let's turn off the tv and pick up a book. Let's cut off the streo and sit at the foot of our elders and hear the beautiful and uplifting stories that they have to say about our past, not the brainwashing, booty shaking, materialistic and murdering messages that are in modern songs and videos. Let's not applaud and encourage or boys to sleep around and teach them that they must respect first themselves and then the woman. And that to sleep around and spread his essence like an animal is demeaning. We should teach our children to stop being bullies and ridiculers, and that they are to help those in need and not slander. We should drop the passions and indulgence of this twisted culture and focus on teaching our children the basic fundamentals of respect and behavior. It is not OK to let things slide because to do so is to forget that OUR children are the future. At the rate that they are going, we will not have any. If this debacle doesn't change, then there will be a new 'slavery' in our future. First the slavery of an ignorent mind, then the slavery of being subservant to the people who have used their minds and earned an education. I remember when I was growing up and the times were starting to change. Some black children would tease and ridicule the black children that were paying attention in class, speaking with clear English and making good grades. Are our youth afraid of being smart? If so, we must change that. And finally, some blacks don't want to be percieved as being an 'oreo' if they talk proper and behave civilized. I'll tell you this - you are immitating those folks - the behavior that you indulge in is what they have done for years. Gang banging, Al Capone - Home invasions and drive by's, The KKK - Strip clubs and porn, Playboy and Hustler magazine - Shooting craps and gambling, Vegas - Fighting and assualting, The slave master - Let's Wake Up People. Peace
