he spent his first 5 years in corcoran ?
they don't just send anyone to corcoran, in order to get there you must have some prison history, be a bad inmate, gangbanger or a very big problem in the system. just because you got 50 something years to life or your mexican does not get you to corcoran, there is much more to this story then they are telling....

I don'tknow the facts of the case so I won't comment on Madrigals guilt or innocence. However, I will say that Andy Stein is an arrogant piece of crap. He never has cared about anything other than his own ego.

I read in the LATimes that the lawyer filed a motion asking for a retrial and saying he should have had the other witnesses testify or whatever and the DA opposed it and the trial judge denied it. So why is everyone coming down on just the lawyer? The trial judge and the DA had a chance to fix it before the poor man had to spend nine years in prison. The problem is not just that the defense lawyer made a mistake. People make mistakes! The problem is that the other people are supposed to be there to make sure we get justice too, not just the defense lawyer! If the defense lawyer had done nothing then I would blame him. But he tried to fix it. The blame here goes to the trial judge and the trial DA because they both were obviously blinded to the truth and didn't care at all about this poor man! Every person in the courtroom should have been there for the purpose of making sure the guy got a fair trial. Instead, the judge and DA were both there to make sure an innocent man got convicted. That makes me way more sick than the fact that a lawyer might have made a mistake, which he tried to correct. And would you please stop calling him "jew?" It makes you look like an idiot.

why would the county of los angeles be liable for the failures of his atty? if his atty wasnt allowed the present evidence at trial, what happened at the appeal?
if he wins a lawsuit it should be @$30000 per yr of incarceration.

The county of los angeles should be liable for the failures of the county of los angeles (i.e., the LACounty superior court judge and the LACounty Deputy District Attorney who tried the case) I agree tho the appeals court should also pay for adding to the screw ups of everyone else.

Thank god he did not spend more time. But he lost alot in 9 years. I pray that someone out there will help him save his home. If I had it I surely would like to help him also. God is good. He will see your Family through all this.. He has provided you already with so much. Trusting him is why you are free. God bless you & your family.

It's another reason to teach children to stay away from gangs and crime. Whether Madrigal is guilty or innocent, I don't know. But what I do know is that if he had not previously been a gang member and criminal, his photo would not have been under consideration as a suspect. They pull these photos from previous cases of similarity.

No, it's not an excuse for a mistake, if a mistake was made. But it's a reason that young people should understand. A reason to stay away from criminal activity, because even if you change your ways or try to change your ways later, your past can come back to haunt you or bite you in the butt.

Justice sounds like you are a defense attorney or a DDA sick of the system. You should know Rancho Court is know for sending people up the river.

Lol, how right you are. Apparently he didn't know that a shooting in East Los Angeles comes under the juridiction of Los Angeles County and is handled at one of their courthouses and has NOTHING to do with the Rancho courts. He may have lived here, but the crime was committed elsewhere. Sounds more like opportunist just jumping at a chance to bash the Rancho courts. Maybe he should have opened his eyes before he opened his mouth.

"To protect and serve" Don't you think the Detectives on the case figured it out? You mean to tell me he diddin't say "HEY MAN I WAS AT WORK!" and the detectives diddn't boother to follow up? They must have been too busy thinking about Doughnuts and coffee to consider that just maybe this Mexican guy was actually innocent, or maybe they diddn't care. sounds like they are Protecting and serving themselves to a bigger bonus for meeting their unofficial conviction quota...yes they exist and yes it is illegal. CAN YOU SAY LAW-SUIT! I wonder how much 9 years of someones life is worth.

Lol, Phil Spector is NOT in the prison at Corcoran. People wrongly assume that, but in reality he is in a substance abuse treatment center that is located in the city of Corcoran, California. Just as someone can be in Chino, but not be in Chino Prison. But as soon as some people here the word "Corcoran" they immediately think of the prison. But nope, he's not in Corcoran Prison. Just happens to be in the same city.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Libra

You're ready to put a lot of energy and drive into the day, but you'll prefer it if you're doing things that have meaning and emotional significance for you. There's a chance that you could get quite heated over anything that strikes you as important now, and others could be taken aback by your vehemence. There might also be a minor dust-up over a financial matter.
