Piece of folk art comes home
"Christ Lives Again" was once an obscure piece of folk art. A commission from the Samaracand Manor in Eagle Springs for a local artist in 1957, the large painting that was once a focal point in the chapel of the now closed reform school has finally come home to Lincoln County.
Malnourished cattle seized from Moore farm
Authorities visited the farm last week and found emaciated cattle infested with parasites, an overgrazed pasture and "hay of no nutritional value in unsanitary racks."
Man hurt in Moore County hit-and-run
Charles Cooper was in good condition Sunday evening at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill following the hit-and-run, which happened around 11:30 p.m. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Cooper was walking along the road N.C. Highway 211 near the intersection with Sawgrass Road in Eagle Springs when he was hit.
Father, 2-year-old son killed in Moore County fire
After the fire was extinguished, investigators found Patrick Person and his son, a 2-year-old also named Patrick, dead inside a bedroom of the second home that caught fire.

When they arrived, two mobile homes were on fire. It was unclear how the fire started or how it spread to a second home.
