Mantria Corp. said Wednesday that it "denies all allegations" that the company and its two principals participated in a $30 million Ponzi scheme that targeted elderly investors and people nearing retirement who were seeking environmentally friendly investments.

The lawsuit alleges that the McKelvys, who were previously married and living in the Denver area, particularly targeted elderly investors or those approaching retirement age to finance such "green" initiatives of Mantria as a supposed “carbon negative” housing community in rural Tennessee and a “biochar” charcoal substitute made from organic waste.

Along with Wragg and Knorr, the SEC said the McKelveys convinced investors attending seminars or participating in Internet “Webinars” to liquidate their traditional investments such as retirement plans and home equity to instead invest in Mantria.

The SEC's complaint sought an emergency court order to freeze their assets. That request was granted by a judge late Monday.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer discovered that a passenger in the car, John A Patterson, 21 years of age of Dunlap, had an active arrest warrant from Sequatchie County General Sessions Court for failing to appear in court.
